Do I Still Need Shepardizing?

You don’t. Precedent Cases doesn’t try to mimic Shepard’s™ or KeyCite®—and it doesn’t have to. Every case in the SOC treatise is already reviewed, explained, and placed in context by our legal team.

You get real context, not vague indicators.

Shepard’s™ is a trademark of LexisNexis. KeyCite® is a registered trademark of Thomson Reuters. Sullivan on Comp is not affiliated with either company.

Precedent Cases FAQs

Can this replace Lexis or Westlaw?

Yes. Precedent Cases delivers the case law you need—faster, simpler, and in context—right inside Sullivan on Comp. It’s focused on giving you answers, not sending you down a research rabbit hole, and all at a significantly lower cost than traditional legal research platforms.

Does this include Shepard’s™ or KeyCite®?

No, but each cited case is discussed directly in the SOC treatise.

Are all cited cases clickable in the treatise?

Yes, but not all links go straight to a PDF yet. High-authority cases open the full decision directly. For panel decisions, you’ll land on a search results page with the citation pre-filled. The correct case is typically the top result. We’re adding direct links to panel cases every month

Can adjusters benefit from this?

Absolutely. For many adjusters, this is the first time they can quickly pull and read the full cases behind the decisions they work with every day. It helps them understand the reasoning behind key rulings, document claims more clearly and collaborate more effectively with counsel, without waiting on summaries or secondhand explanations.
